The Symphony of the Potomac is a long-established multigenerational community
of musicians giving its time and talent for the entertainment, education, and cultural
enrichment of Montgomery County and the greater Washington DC area.
Our name is new on the local music scene, but members of our orchestra have been performing together as an ensemble in Montgomery Country for almost 40 years - both with the SOTP and previously within the JCC Symphony Orchestra. For more than 20 years we have had the pleasure of working under the leadership and the baton of Joel Lazar, one of the DC Metro area's most respected conductors.
We provide an opportunity for local volunteer musicians, including select high school students, to play orchestral masterworks with great locally based soloists--while giving you the chance to hear wonderful music in your own backyard!
