Virtual Audition Instructions
Create a Recording
Use the best quality video and audio recording devices possible.
Your performance should be recorded as if you are at a live audition. There should be only one "take" with no editing. Face, instrument, and arms should be clearly visible in the video at all times.
When you start recording, you should state your full name, the current date and time, and announce "I am auditioning for Symphony of the Potomac". Then you can proceed with your performance.
Please perform two contrasting pieces (one predominantly lyrical, one more technical). These might be drawn from any repertoire, orchestral excerpts, concerti, sonatas or other solo works, chamber music, etudes, etc.
At the conclusion of the performance, you should announce "I have reached the end of my audition" and restate your name before ending the recording.
Submit Audition Materials
Upload your audition video to YouTube and set it as "Unlisted" so only people with the link can view it. If you are unsure how to upload to YouTube, see here.
Title your video "[Your Full Name] - SOTP Audition - [Current Date]".
Email info@symphonypotomac.org with subject line “SOTP Audition”. You should include:
1. Your name, address, instrument, and phone number.
2. The YouTube video link.
3. An electronic copy of sheet music for both pieces (e.g. links to IMSLP.org, PDF scans)
4. A description of your musical training and orchestral (etc.) experience. Alternatively, attach a music resume.
